Ask the library
Ask a question about California contractor law and business. Answers cite a dated source snapshot of statutes, regulations, and official agency guides — or, when the snapshot lacks sufficient evidence, a clearly labeled answer based on checked official web sources — and the system refuses when its sources do not authorize an answer. It's free — a shared pool of 100 questions in any rolling 24-hour window across all signed-in members is available.

What it does
Ask the library is a lookup tool for California contractor law and business questions. It retrieves passages from a dated snapshot of selected statutes, regulations, and official agency guides and answers only from those passages, always with citations to the exact source, locator, and snapshot date. When the snapshot does not contain sufficient evidence, it may instead return a clearly labeled answer based on checked official web sources, shown with the date those sources were checked.
It is free to use: sign in and you get 100 shared free questions across all signed-in members in any rolling 24-hour window — no pass or payment is needed. It refuses to answer when neither the snapshot nor checked official web sources support an answer — a refusal is a normal result, not an error. It will not give legal advice, take your side in a specific dispute, cover other states or local ordinances, or hand over official exam items, because none of that is in the snapshot.
